Privacy Policy

1. Scope and provider

This Policy applies to Chinese for Americans on iOS, Android, this product website, and support handled through contact@narak.app.

Narak is the public provider responsible for support and privacy requests related to information processed outside your device.

2. Data kept on your device

The app may store study progress, review answers, preferences, local history, saved items, and unlock status stored on the device.

Local study data is intended to stay on your device unless you choose a device-level backup, transfer, export, support attachment, or store/platform feature that moves data outside the app.

3. Data we may collect

• Support information: If you contact contact@narak.app, we process your sender email address and the information you choose to include, such as app version, device model, operating system, screenshots, or a description of the issue.
• Purchase validation data: If paid features are offered, Apple App Store, Google Play, and in-app purchase tooling may process receipts, purchase tokens, product IDs, entitlement or unlock status, store account metadata, and technical identifiers needed to validate or restore access.
• Website and delivery data: Hosting, security, and email providers may process limited technical data such as IP address, timestamps, browser or device metadata, and delivery logs to operate the website and support channels.

4. Website cookies and analytics

The public Chinese for Americans website uses necessary storage for privacy consent and may store a locale preference when you choose a language.

Optional Vercel Web Analytics and the traffic_source_detected event run only after analytics consent on the website. You can reject or withdraw analytics consent at /privacy-choices.

Website analytics is separate from the mobile app's local-first design and does not make local study progress, answers, preferences, or saved items collected by Narak.

5. How we use data

• Run lessons, audio playback, review, progress, preferences, and unlock status on your device.
• Validate purchases, restore access, and prevent purchase abuse.
• Respond to support messages and privacy requests.
• Operate, secure, debug, maintain, and measure the website and support channels when permitted.
• Comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, and protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-app tracking or behavioral advertising in the current app version.

• Apple and Google may process store, billing, review, crash, download, and account data under their own policies.
• Service providers may process data for website hosting, email, security, and support operations.
• We may disclose limited information when required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, and security.

7. App Store and Google Play disclosures

Apple App Privacy and Google Play Data Safety answers must match the released app build and any SDKs included in that build.

Data processed only on device is not collected by Narak for store-label purposes unless it is transmitted off the device. Purchase data and optional support email handling should be disclosed where required by the store forms.

8. Retention and deletion

Local study data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear device data, or uninstall the app. Deleting the app may delete local progress unless your device or platform backup restores it.

Support, privacy request, consent, and website analytics records are retained only as long as needed for support, legal compliance, security, dispute handling, operational recordkeeping, and the retention periods described in the global Cookies Policy.

9. Rights, children, and contact

Depending on your location, including Brazil where the LGPD may apply, you may request confirmation, access, correction, deletion, portability, anonymization, restriction, objection, or information about sharing for personal data Narak processes outside your device.

Chinese for Americans is a general language learning app and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child sent personal data through support, contact contact@narak.app.
